Refund and Cancellation Policy
This Refund and Cancellation Policy (“Policy”) sets out the terms on which subscription payments, refunds, and cancellations are handled for THE ANCIENT INDIAN SCRIPTURES!, a subscription-based content blog by Raguram Karupia, M.A., B.L. The blog presents curated passages and the Blogger’s commentary on Valmiki Ramayana, Vyasa’s Mahabharata, the Principal Upanishads, the Bhagavad Gita, and related ancient Indian scriptures. Access to the first fifteen (15) posts is free, and access from Post 16 onwards is available only through a paid monthly subscription, as described in this Policy. This Policy is designed to comply with applicable Indian laws and regulations, including the Information Technology Act, 2000, and the Consumer Protection Act, 2019.
1. Subscription Model and Free Content Tier
THE ANCIENT INDIAN SCRIPTURES! is a subscription-based content blog managed by Raguram Karupia, M.A., B.L. It provides writings, curated passages, and commentary on ancient Indian scriptures for online reading only through this website. The blog does not sell any physical products or digital downloadable files.
Free Content Tier (Posts 1–15): The first fifteen (15) blog posts on this website (Posts 1–15) are freely accessible to all readers worldwide, without any requirement of registration, login, or payment. These posts are intended to allow readers to understand the nature, quality, and style of the content before deciding whether to subscribe.
Paid Subscription Tier (Post 16 onwards): From Blog Post No. 16 onwards, access to new and existing posts is available only through a paid monthly subscription (the “Subscription”). Subscription payments are processed via the Razorpay Payment Button / Razorpay payment gateway at the following rates:
- Readers located in India: INR 200 (Indian Rupees) per month
- Readers located in the United States of America: USD 5 (United States Dollars) per month
- Readers located in all other countries: An amount per month in local currency equivalent to USD 5
All such payments are subscription fees for time-bound access to online blog content from Post 16 onwards. They are not payments for the purchase of any physical products or digital downloadable files.
2. No Refund Policy (General Rule)
Subscription fees paid for a billing cycle provide immediate access to the applicable subscription content for that period. Accordingly, subscription fees, once paid for a billing cycle, are generally non-refundable, except in the limited circumstances expressly set out in Section 3 of this Policy or where a refund is required under applicable law.
By initiating and completing a subscription payment through the Razorpay Payment Button on the website of THE ANCIENT INDIAN SCRIPTURES!, you expressly acknowledge and agree that:
- you are paying a recurring subscription fee solely for access to subscription-based blog content from Post 16 onwards; and
- you have read, understood, and accepted this general no refund rule for each billing cycle, subject only to the exceptions described in Section 3.
3. Cancellation Policy for Subscriptions
You may cancel your Subscription at any time. Cancellation stops future recurring subscription charges but does not entitle you to a refund of subscription fees already paid for the current billing month, except in the limited circumstances described below or where required under applicable law.
How to cancel: To cancel your Subscription, you should write to kraguram0058@gmail.com from the email address used at the time of subscribing (where applicable), clearly stating your full name, contact details, and any relevant transaction or subscription reference. If Razorpay or your payment provider offers a self-service option to manage or cancel recurring subscription payments, you may also use that option, subject to their terms.
Effect of cancellation on access: Once your cancellation request is received and processed, your Subscription will not renew for the next billing month. You will continue to have access to subscription content until the end of the then-current billing month for which you have already paid. After the end of that billing month, your access to subscription content (Posts 16 onwards) will be discontinued, but you will still be able to read Posts 1–15, which remain free for all readers.
No refund for the current billing month: Subscription fees for the current billing month will not be refunded if you cancel mid-month or after content has been accessed, except where a refund is required under applicable law or where a specific exception described below applies.
Limited exceptions to the no refund policy: Notwithstanding the general no refund rule in Section 2, THE ANCIENT INDIAN SCRIPTURES! may, in accordance with applicable law, process refunds in the following specific circumstances only:
- Duplicate charges: If you have been charged more than once for the same subscription transaction due to a technical or processing error, we will refund the duplicate amount after verifying the transaction details with Razorpay and our internal records. What you must do: Please write to us at kraguram0058@gmail.com with your name, transaction IDs for all the duplicate charges, date and time of payment, amount, and screenshots or bank statements showing multiple debits.
- Technical errors where payment is debited but access is not granted: If a transaction is successful from your side (amount debited from your bank account or card) but subscription access to the paid content is not provided due to a technical error on our website or with Razorpay, we will either (a) provide you with the appropriate subscription access for the relevant billing period, or (b) initiate a refund, after verification. What you must do: Please email us with your name, transaction ID, date and amount of payment, description of the problem, and supporting screenshots of the payment confirmation and the access issue.
- Failed or pending transactions where money is debited but subscription is not activated: If your account has been debited but the transaction shows as failed, pending, or incomplete on our website and no subscription access is granted, we will coordinate with Razorpay and, where necessary, your bank or payment provider to either (a) complete the transaction and provide subscription access, or (b) initiate a refund for the debited amount, after verification. What you must do: Please contact us by email with your name, transaction reference, date and amount, and any messages received from your bank, payment app, or Razorpay.
- Unauthorized transactions: If you believe that a transaction related to THE ANCIENT INDIAN SCRIPTURES! has been made on your payment instrument (card, UPI, net banking, wallet, etc.) without your authorization, you must immediately notify your bank or payment provider and also inform us. Upon receipt of your written complaint and after due investigation, if it is established that an unauthorized transaction related to THE ANCIENT INDIAN SCRIPTURES! has occurred, we may initiate a refund for the relevant amount, subject to confirmations from Razorpay and the concerned financial institution. What you must do: Please email us with your name, details of the disputed transaction, a description of why you consider it unauthorized, and copies of any complaint or reference numbers given by your bank or payment provider.
All requests under this Section 3 must be supported by relevant documentation, such as transaction IDs, payment confirmations, screenshots, or bank statements, to enable us and Razorpay to verify and process your request.
4. How to Request a Refund or Raise a Payment Issue

- Your full name
- Your contact details (email address and, if available, phone number)
- Date and approximate time of the transaction

5. Refund Process and Timeline
Once THE ANCIENT INDIAN SCRIPTURES! confirms that you are eligible for a refund in accordance with this Policy and applicable law, we will initiate the refund process through Razorpay to the extent supported by Razorpay and your payment provider.
Refunds, when approved, will generally be initiated within five to seven (5–7) business days from the date of our written confirmation to you. The actual time taken for the refunded amount to be credited to your account will depend on the policies and processing times of your bank, card issuer, wallet provider, or other payment service provider, and is outside the control of THE ANCIENT INDIAN SCRIPTURES! and Razorpay.
As far as reasonably possible, refunds will be processed using the same payment method that was used for the original transaction. If the original payment method does not support refunds, or if a refund cannot be processed to that method for any reason, an alternative method may be used in accordance with the requirements of Razorpay, your payment provider, and applicable law.
6. Auto-Renewals and Billing Cycles
Subscriptions are generally billed on a monthly basis. Where recurring billing is enabled through Razorpay or your payment provider, subscription fees will be automatically charged at the beginning of each billing month, unless you cancel in accordance with Section 3 or disable recurring payments through your payment provider (where such an option is available).
You will be informed of the applicable subscription amount (in INR, USD, or equivalent local currency) and any recurring billing arrangements at the time of subscribing. Please review this information carefully before confirming payment.
If you do not wish your Subscription to renew for the next billing month, you must submit a cancellation request in accordance with Section 3 sufficiently in advance of the renewal date, or, where available, disable auto-renewal with your bank, card issuer, wallet provider, or other payment service provider. THE ANCIENT INDIAN SCRIPTURES! is not responsible for delays by your bank or payment provider in processing such instructions.

This Policy shall be governed by and construed in accordance with the laws of India, including, where applicable, the Information Technology Act, 2000 and the rules made thereunder, the Consumer Protection Act, 2019, and any other relevant laws and regulations relating to electronic commerce, online content, and consumer rights.
